With a Masters in Economic History you will not only be equipped to help institutions, companies and organisations not to repeat the mistakes of history, but also analyse what are the drivers and roots of growth and innovation in the future.

Your future careerMany graduates from the programme choose to work at national or international organizations in positions requiring analytical skills. Recent graduates work at the European Centre for International Political Economy (ECIPE), German parliament, United Nations, HSBC, Hong Kong Banking Services, and Nordea.

The full programme comprises two years of full-time study, but there will be a provision to leave after one year with a Master of Science (60 ECTS credits). Compulsory courses (7.5 ECTS credits each): Comparative Analysis of Economic Change; Population and Living Standards; Research Design, Econometrics with Time Series Analysis; Institutions, Economic Growth and Equity; the Global Economy and Long-Term Economic Growth. Electives (7.5 ECTS credits each): Economic Growth Over Time and Space; Causes of Demographic Change; Economics of Innovation; Innovation, Energy and Sustainability; China and the Asia Pacific; Human Capital in a Historical Perspective;
Consequences of Demographic Change; Advanced Time Series Analysis.
The programme ends with a degree project.

Admission requirementsAn undergraduate degree (BA/BSc) of at least 3 years, 180 ECTS credits, with at least 60 credits in either economics, economic history, history, statistics, or the equivalent knowledge. Erasmus Mundus Action 2Lund University is a partner in several Erasmus Mundus Action 2 "lots".If you are from an eligible country you can apply for a scholarship to come to Lund University. Scholarships are available to academic staff, PhD students, Master's students and Bachelor's students and can cover both tuition fees and living expenses.

Swedish Institute scholarshipsThe Swedish Institute offers several scholarship programmes for international students studying at Bachelor's, Master's, PhD and post-doctoral levels.

Swedish Institute Study Scholarship:

The Swedish Institute Study Scholarships target highly qualified students across two categories:

Category 1: Students from the following 12 developing countries: Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. Category 2: Students with citizenship from countries on the DAC list (note there are some exceptions).

US Student FinanceLund University is a participating institution in the US Government Federal William D. Ford Direct Loan Program for undergraduate, Masters and doctoral programmes. This includes the Stafford Loans and the Graduate Plus Loans. Please note that this loan programme is only available to US citizens or eligible non-citizens.
