This concentration prepares students to engage in the various aspects of design and evaluation and is intended for:

* individuals who work in museums
* extension educators (4H)
* educators in informal environments

* other higher education professionals and those who have a particular focus on design of learning environments.

Students work with such contexts as software, museum kiosks, professional development programs, textbooks, educational programs, and corporate training, among others.

Requirements

Official transcripts, personal statement, and three letters of recommendation. One letter of recommendation is expected from a supervisor or former supervisor and one from a professor, a former professor, or someone who can assess the candidate's potential for academic work. Applicants are required to have a masters' degree.

Funding

All first year PhD students are supported by departmental or university fellowships or graduate assistantships, which provide stipend, tuition remission, and sometimes student fees for the first year.After the first year, students will be supported by their advisors through fellowships and graduate assistantships.

There are also a number of multi-year fellowships available for advanced students through NSF and NIH training programs. BME also has a limited number of teaching assistantships for graduate students who demonstrate outstanding teaching skills.
