This degree gives you a broad overview of agriculture and offers modules across our three specialist areas:

  • agronomy
  • animal production science
  • farm business management

Agriculture is at the centre of many of the challenges facing modern society - including climate change, food security and increasing world population - and is a diverse area of study.

You will enjoy a rich curriculum including a broad range of topics from biology, soil science, nutrition, management, accounting and law.

Course Content

Our degrees are divided into Stages. Each Stage lasts for an academic year and you need to complete modules totalling 120 credits by the end of each Stage.

You transfer to one of our Honours options for your final year. You can choose from:

  • D444 (Agronomy) BSc Honours;
  • D422 (Animal Production Science) BSc Honours; or
  • D402 (Farm Business Management) BSc Honours

- A Levels

BBB excluding General Studies. A science A Level is preferred. GCSE Biology and Chemistry (or Dual Award Science) at grade C required if not offered at A or AS level.

- Scottish Qualifications

AABB at Higher Grade, including Biology and/or Chemistry. Combinations of Highers and Advanced Highers accepted.

- International Baccalaureate

A minimum of 28 points with Chemistry and/or Biology at Higher Level. Chemistry and/or Biology should be offered at Standard Level if not offered at Higher Level.

- Irish Leaving Certificate

BBBBB at Higher Level, including Biology and/or Chemistry.

- Access Qualifications

Units in Chemistry and Biological Sciences are essential and Business Studies is desirable. At least 30 level 3 credits at a minimum of Merit.

- BTEC Level 5 HND

In Agriculture or a science-related subject to include at least 120 credits at Merit grade.

- BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma (formerly BTEC National Diploma)

In Agriculture or Applied Science at overall DDM-DMM.

- Cambridge Pre-U

M2, M2, M2 in Principal Subjects. GCSE Biology and Chemistry (or Dual Award Science) at grade C required if not offered at a higher level.

- PARTNERS - A Levels

BCC excluding General Studies. GCSE Biology and Chemistry (or Dual Award Science) required if not offered at A or AS level.

Evidence of relevant experience of agriculture is useful.
