This first level programme gives basic knowledge of economics and also teaches methods of solving economic problems in the socio-economic environment. The graduates of BA Economics are specialists in the area of managing human and financial resources and know methods of economic analysis. The programme content is designed to fully meet with current market need of specialists in economics.

The studies prepare candidates to work in flexible, multicultural work environment where good knowledge of development is essential.

Course Content

The course provides thorough knowledge in the theory of economics and the skills of solving economic problems in practice. The graduate of first cycle studies in Economics is a specialist in the area of human, financial and material resources management.

The graduate is proficient in using methods and tools of economic analysis and has the knowledge and skills to run their own business. First cycle studies qualify the graduate for work at operational or assistant positions in enterprises, organizations and institutions, both in Poland and abroad. In turn, the graduate of the second cycle programme has mastered the skills of applying advanced analytical methods to studying and modelling economic phenomena and processes.

The graduate is eligible for project management and decision-making as well as providing counselling and auditing services. The graduate will also be ready to accept a position in various sectors and areas of the labour market in Poland and other EU member states. First and second cycle studies are conducted as full-time and extra-mural courses.

Requirements

A high school diploma, a transcript of records showing the subjects/grades and a certificate of proficiency in English for foreigners (unless the first degree was taught in English) are required.

The list of required documents for admission is as follows:

  • Application form (download PDF) that is legibly filled out using capital letters and signed;
  • Legalized document (original) confirming secondary school graduation;
  • Confirmation of the right to apply for any type of higher education programme in the country where the candidate was awarded the school leaving diploma;
  • Copy of the passport page containing the photo;
  • Three passport photographs;
  • Signed cover letter;
  • Certificate confirming the candidate`s proficiency in English which is the language of instruction (i.e. Certificate in Advanced English (CAE), Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), and Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or any other document that can certify whether a candidate`s high school instruction was conducted in English;
  • Confirmation that a non-returnable application fee of 200 EUR has been paid to the University of Lodz account;
  • Statutory obligation where the candidate commits to complete the nostrification process no later than until the end of the first semester of studies, provided that the candidate has been successfully enrolled (prospective students may download it here or receive it by e-mail upon request), stating that in case the candidate is admitted to the studies he/she shall nostrify his/her documents by the end of the first semester.;
  • Filled in and signed accommodation request form.
