Course Content

Course content ranges from introductory topics to recent developments in electrical and electronic systems engineering. In your first year you will focus on covering the essentials of the electrical and electronic subject area. This will ensure that you are prepared for a detailed study of electrical and electronic engineering over the three-year course.

The second year introduces specialist application areas such as control and instrumentation, and embedded microprocessors.

Your final year covers power systems, electronics and control. All of these subjects will provide expertise in design and project work at a level required to become a graduate engineer.

Your course will be based on a series of lectures, with associated seminars and laboratory practical classes. In addition, your personal tutor will review and discuss your progress with you and will be available for advice.

You will work with staff on real-world problems from industry, commerce and research groups, as you would in professional practice; this means that you develop all of the professional skills at the same time as you learn the technical content of your degree.
