    Description

    This course is about giving you the opportunity to develop the knowledge and expertise that will make you a successful manager and lead to the management career you are striving for. Your course initially provides an overview of the main areas any manager needs to understand in a modern business. As you progress through the course and identify your career path, you are able to choose topics that specialise in management areas that you want to study in more depth. There is an emphasis of building management skills. Members of the course team have experience of senior management and consultancy and incorporate this into their teaching, to relate theory to the real business world.
    If you choose this course you will benefit from:

    • Teaching staff with business experience and links, who will incorporate real business projects into the teaching materials;
    • Links with employers built over a number of years through our graduates, placements and applied research activities;
    • Exposure to international business through the experience of academic staff who have worked on international projects across the world;
    • Guest lectures from professionals and industry experts. In the past these have included representatives from IBM, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Mastercard and Bentley. These lectures enable you to start building your professional network for future career opportunities.
    • Coventry Business School’s membership of the European Foundation of Management Development (EFMD) and the Association of UK Business Schools (ABS);
    • We are currently seeking reaccreditation by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) for students who decide to specialise in Supply Chain Management.

    Course Content

    The first year explores a wide range of business subjects that provide the foundation for your degree. You also start to develop the professional and academic skills necessary for a business career.

    The second year considers a strategic view of organisation management that brings together all the subjects in the course. The development of communication, presentation and interview skills also supports career planning and graduate employment.

    In the final year you can choose to specialise in a particular area, for example supply chain management or international business. This can tie in directly to the area of business you want to work in and is something you will be able to discuss at interviews to show where your interests and motivations lie.

    Your course will be based on a series of lectures, with associated seminars and workshop practical classes. In addition, your personal tutor will review and discuss your progress with you and will be available for advice.

    UK requirements for international applications

    Universities in the United Kingdom use a centralized system of undergraduate application: University and College Admissions Service (UCAS). It is used by both domestic and international students. Students have to register on the UCAS website before applying to the university. They will find all the necessary information about the application process on this website. Some graduate courses also require registration on this website, but in most cases students have to apply directly to the university. Some universities also accept undergraduate application through Common App (the information about it could be found on universities' websites).

    Both undergraduate and graduate students may receive three types of responses from the university. The first one, “unconditional offer” means that you already reached all requirements and may be admitted to the university. The second one, “conditional offer” makes your admission possible if you fulfill some criteria – for example, have good grades on final exams. The third one, “unsuccessful application” means that you, unfortunately, could not be admitted to the university of you choice.

    All universities require personal statement, which should include the reasons to study in the UK and the information about personal and professional goals of the student and a transcript, which includes grades received in high school or in the previous university.
