The aim of the Master of Engineering Research is to train you in high-level engineering research. You will undertake a significant piece of research in your engineering using your specialist knowledge and advanced research techniques to explore the resolution of an engineering problem.

Key areas of research at USQ are:

  • Agricultural and Environmental Engineering
  • Computational Engineering
  • Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering
  • Fluid Mechanics, Rheology and Thermofluids
  • GIS and Planning
  • Mechanics, Materials and Structures
  • Mechatronics and control.

Previous research topics have included sport biomechanics for foot arch support, use of a mobile phone as a precision agricultural tool in developing countries and development of novel fibre and polymer reinforced engineered concrete composites.

Entry requirements

One of the following:

  • a high-level of academic performance in a 4-year bachelor degree in engineering awarded by an Australian university or equivalent
  • a high-level of academic performance in a bachelor's degree in science, applied mathematics, or a related field of study awarded by an Australian university or equivalent and qualifying program of engineering studies as deemed appropriate on application
  • have worked as a professional engineer in a position of responsibility for 5 years or more, provide documentary evidence such as technical publications that satisfies the University that advanced knowledge has been acquired, and successfully complete an interview with the University 

English Language Requirements

Domestic and international students from a non-English speaking background are required to satisfy English Language requirements. This program requires a minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.

If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.
