The programme brings together natural and social sciences for a comprehensive understanding of environmental challenges and solutions at global as well as local scales. Students will learn about causes and effects of environmental issues related, for instance, to climate change, biodiversity, desertification, and water and land degradation. - The programme explores challenges linked to governance, power relations and international cooperation. International environmental bodies and policy implications of conventions are considered. Development and sustainability in relation to economic growth, welfare, health, poverty, rights and conflicts are important elements. The programme consists of courses, field research and thesis writing. Field studies can be arranged in several countries in the South. - The programme prepares students for work in national and international agencies, such as ministries and environmental organisations. They may also find jobs in development aid agencies, schools, research institutions, media and consulting companies.

A bachelor's degree or equivalent education in a relevant field is required for admission.Depending on your planned specialisation, your background may be from environmental sciences, ecology, resource management, agriculture, forestry, geography, economics, political science or social science. Applicants must meet the university's requirement for English language proficiency.
