The Master in Economics (ECN) is one of the specialisations within the two-year MSc programme in Economics and Business Administration at NHH. After finishing the programme you will be awarded the title MSc in Economics and Business Administration.

The ECN programme is intended to equip students with solid analytical skills to analyse economic questions relevant for private business, public institutions, and international organisations.

Understanding economic mechanisms is vital for the success of business and the design of public policy. The programme offers a thorough and comprehensive education in macroeconomics, microeconomics, and econometrics, and a wide set of optional courses for students interested in questions such as: What is the effect of the financial crises on economic growth? How should a brand-name company price its product facing competition from private labels? How fast should the oil resources be exploited? Is tax on wealth a good idea?

The programme builds on the very strong tradition of economics at NHH offering courses in fields such as macroeconomics, international economics, industrial organisation, labour economics, resource economics, and behavioural economics. The programme is ideal for students pursuing a career in large private companies, consultancy, public institutions, international organisations, or academia.

Admission is based on a university degree of at least three years of study beyond Norwegian minimum requirements for entrance to higher education (in Norway) with satisfactory results. The minimum requirement for the GRE test is 152 points (new scale) / 660 points (old scale) on the Quantative reasoning section. If English is not your mother tongue, you are required to prove your English proficiency by taking either a TOEFL or an IELTS test. For the TOEFL test a score of at least 575 points on the written test, 233 on the computer-based version or 90 points on the internet based test, are required.
