Neuroscience

Our purpose is to educate students to become independent, reliable, and competent researchers who contribute significantly to breakthroughs in brain science and medicine. Our students graduate with the knowledge that they have contributed to discovery and the advance of modern neuroscience and, importantly, with a tool kit of skills and experiences they need to be tomorrow's leaders in science, medicine and society. 

We work hard to provide an exciting and positive environment both for creative research and for the acquisition of life skills. Our degrees are distinguished both in the originality and quality of the candidate’s research. The research environment within the Department is collegial and cooperative. Through supervisory committees, research days, journal clubs, social get-togethers, outreach activities and sports, all members of the Department of Neuroscience, in addition to the supervisor, play an important role in each student’s mentorship and training.

Requirements 

• A minimum admission grade point average over the last two years (20 half courses) of 3.3 (B+) on a four point scale or equivalent
• For applicants required to provide proof of proficiency in the English, a minimum TOEFL score of 250 (computer-based), 600 (paper-based) or 100 (internet-based). Alternatively, students may fulfill this requirement by presenting a score of 7.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or a MELAB score of 84, or a PTE score of 70.
• Two reference letters
• A supervisor in our program who has agreed to a minimum 2 year financial committment. 
• One copy of all official grade transcripts  and 1 copy of degree certificates (if applicable) - these must be sent directly from the issuing institution in a sealed and stamped envelope, and mailed to the address at the bottom right of this page. The minimum accepted grade point average is 3.3 on a 4 point scale (B+)  over the last 2 years of course work. Official translation of transcripts/certificates to the English language is required for non English transcripts.
