The Faculty of Communications master programme in communication aims to provide its students with theoretical and practical background and expertise in fields of mass media, visual communication, public relation as well as advertising.

It examines the content and the modes of operation of traditional and emerging communication forms and media in their social, cultural, economical, political and regulatory contexts. The Faculty of Communication aims to provide the students with conceptual tools essential to success in a communication intensive world.

Key Learning Outcomes

Upon the successful completion of this programme, the student will be able

  • To demonstrate knowledge on research methods in the field of communication.
  • To perform an imropoved understanding of ethical issues in mass communication.
  • To assess the theories of communication extensively and apply them to several social communication problems.
  • To develop communication strategies and apply them to interpersonal, organizational and social communication processes.
  • To develop persuasive communication strategies and projects, apply them in advertising and public relations issues and critically evaluate present applications.
  • To develop a historical and critical perspective for all social communication issues.
  • To research and report findings in an academic format in his/her field of specialisation.

Graduation Requirements

The students, who score a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) 2.70 / 4.00, and successfully complete all the courses (120 ECTS), may start writing their thesis, and the students who successfully accomplish the Master thesis defense are awarded with Master of Arts Degree (MA) in Communication.

For National StudentsFirst cycle (BA/BSc) degree in relevant fields.ALES (Entrance Exam for Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education) with minimum score of 55 (or equivalent).Certificate of Yasar University Foreign Language Achievement Test (FLAT) or Paper Based TOEFL (PBT) score of 550, or Computer Based TOEFL (CBT) score of 213 or Internet Based TOEFL (IBT) score of 79, or equivalent. Academic Achievement Scholarship:

Undergraduate students enrolled at Yasar University are eligible for scholarships based on their academic performance. Any student, who has completed the first academic year and achieved a grade point average of above 2.30 out of 4.00, will be eligible to apply for an academic scholarship. Within the quota determined, scholarships for the following academic year, will be awarded on a 100%, 50% and 25% basis. The scholarship will continue as long as the student’s grades are maintained.

Sports Scholarship:

Yasar University offers Sports Scholarships to successful athletes playing in National teams. This year, scholarships of 100%, 50% and 25% will be offered to athletes in below fields: Tennis, Table Tennis, Archery, Athletics, Chess, Fencing, Gymnastics, Swimming and Triathlon Applications for Sports Scholarship are taken during May.

Turkish Government Scholarships:

Some international students may also be eligible for scholarships sponsored by the Turkish government.
