Greek and Roman Studies (also known as Classics) is the study of all aspects of ancient Greece and Rome, including literature, language, history, philosophy, mythology, religion, social and economic life, technology, art, architecture, and archeology. The discipline is constantly evolving as new discoveries are made and modern methodological approaches are employed. In recent years, many classicists have focused on social, economic, and political issues, such as the nature of the ancient family, the position of women, and the role of patronage and cultural manipulation in the acquisition and maintenance of political power. The Greek and Roman Studies program offers you a wide range of courses on aspects of ancient Greek and Roman civilization (Classical Civilization) that have left their mark on later eras. You have the opportunity to learn the ancient Greek and Latin languages, to study ancient literature in the original languages or in translation, to take courses exploring the classical traditions in the humanities (history, literature, religion, art, and philosophy), and to benefit from the expertise of Carleton scholars who have a rich variety of interests and area of specialty.

Field of study: Classics and Classical Lang., Lit., and Linguistics, Gen.

    Canada requirements for international students

Canada is now the most educated country in the world, according to a recent report by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. Most of all, there are a lot of programs for international students.

The universities of Canada don't use a centralized system of undergraduate application so the students have to apply separately for each institution they want to attend. However, the most general procedures and requirements to get admission in Canada are: an application form, an official high school transcript or university transcript, CV which present your educational achievements, work or volonteer experience, and a letter of intent (LOI) that demonstrate personal and professional goals of the student and explains the interest of the applicant.

IELTS is most widely recognized and accepted English proficiency test in Canada. However, some universities accept TOEFL as an English test requirement. So you'll need to contact the university for the information about the test you have to provide and the score that you must obtain.
