The Aberystwyth MSc in Glaciology is designed to provide you with a range of skills appropriate for the practical and theoretical challenges of glaciological research, but which are also highly relevant to wider Earth Science and Physical Geographical contexts and employment beyond.

Supported by the world-class staff at the Institute of Geography and Earth Sciences (IGES), you will gain high-level, subject-specific expertise in the critically-important study areas of glaciology, glacial geological and glacial geomorphological investigation. The departments careful balance of intense tutoring and independent study will thoroughly prepare you for further doctoral study and specialist employment.

In addition, you will develop a broad range of personal and practical skills through new experiences in managing teams and individuals, planning, implementing and evaluating research programmes, and the use of field and satellite technology. The IGES invites applications from postgraduate students in a range of related disciplines including geologists, geographers and environmental Earth scientists. The entry requirement for the MSc in Glaciology is an Honours Degree (Class 2 Division 1) or equivalent, supported by suitable references.

First or upper second class honours degree (UK) or equivalent in Earth & Environmental Sciences, Physical Geography or the Physical Sciences.Non-native English speakers are required to take a University recognised test of academic English language proficiency with required minimum proficiency levels equating to an IELTS score of 7.0 or a TOEFL score of 610 (paper based test) or 250 (computer based) with an essay rating of 5.5. Applicants who have successfully undertaken a Bachelors degree in a UK University are exempt from this requirement.
