The Master's Program in Robotics and Control at Umeå University is given in English and is fully adapted to the Bologna structure of higher education in Europe. It is interdisciplinary with courses that cover important aspects of modern robotics such as autonomous systems, field robotics, artificial intelligence, computer vision, mobile robots, embedded systems, modeling and control systems. Lectures, lab work, projects, and assignments are closely connected to ongoing research at the University. The programme starts in September (autumn semester).

The Master's Program in Robotics and Control provides teaching by lectures, group exercises, seminars, laboratory work, assignments, and projects. It consists of courses from the Department of Computing Science and Department of Applied Physics and Electronics. Many courses contain a large portion of laboratory work to provide hands-on experience using the state of the art software and hardware. The study focus may be put on artificial intelligence related robotics or control related robotics, depending on the students interests. It is also possible and encouraged to personalize the program by selecting additional courses according to own interests and including them in the diploma.
Typically the students study two courses in parallel for a period that is a half of a semester. Each study period ends with an exam period. Every course has three written examination opportunities each year. The program also includes a one-semester project work of 30 ECTS. It is defended orally and documented in the form of a written Master's Thesis.

Proficiency in English equivalent to Swedish upper secondary course English A (IELTS (Academic) with a minimum overall score of 5.5 and no individual score below 5.0. TOEFL PBT (Paper-based Test) with a minimum total score of 530 and a minimum TWE score of 4. TOEFL iBT (Internet-based Test) with a minimum total score of 72 and a minimum score of 17 on the Writing Section), A Bachelor's or Bachelor of Engineering degree (equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen or Högskoleingenjörsexamen, 180 ECTS) from an internationally recognised university. Special requirements are 15 ECTS in Computing Science, 7.5 ECTS in Electronics, 30 ECTS in Mathematics, 7.5 ECTS in Mathematical Statistics.
