Study abroad unit(s)

The students have the opportunity to spend a semester abroad.

Forms of assessment

Modules are assessed by written and oral exams, in most cases embedded in group project work, seminar paper and presentations during and at the end of the semester.

Course objectives

The Master's course of study "Financial Services Management" provides its graduates with optimal prerequisites for starting a career in business, finance or economics. Furthermore, students have the possibility to embark on a doctoral degree after having completed the Master's degree. The focus on management and finance offers many opportunities in various sectors.

Language requirements

Applicants who are not native speakers of English need a comprehensive knowledge of English, at least at level B2; TOEIC Listening and Reading 785; TOEIC Speaking and Writing 310; TOEFL iBT 87; TOEFL ITP 543; IELTS 6.0; Cambridge English: First (FCE); Cambridge English: Business Vantage (BEC Vantage); LCCI EfB Level 2 (Distinction); LCCI EfB Level 3 (Pass) or equivalent.

Academic requirements

A prerequisite for admission to the Master's course of study is proof of a degree in an economics, business, management or finance course of study (210 ECTS) at a university of applied sciences and arts, a university or a similar institution of higher education. The course of study must include at least six theory semesters.

Professional competence must be verified by relevant professional knowledge and competences, normally by a degree.
Personal suitability requires a distinctive interest in the selected course of study and is recognised by the admission commission via a positive vote. The admission commission can base its decision on a selective conversation and may integrate the professional suitability when making its decision.
The examination board may conditionally admit a student who holds less than 210 ECTS, but who can provide proof of at least 180 ECTS, to the course of study. These conditions can be met by recognition of additional Bachelor's modules, additional study-abroad modules, work experience after completion of the Bachelor's degree (German or English language certificate needed) or successful completion of additional modules at HS Kaiserslautern - University of Applied Sciences. The examination board informs the admitted student in writing about the conditions before the beginning of the Master's study programme. The conditions can be fulfilled in advance or during the study of the Master's modules. The conditions have to be fulfilled at the latest by the time the student wishes to register for the Master's degree.
An applicant who has acquired an equivalent professional degree in another course of study may also apply for the Master's course of study. The examination board is responsible for determining the equivalence.

Enrolment fees

Current enrolment fees are 93 EUR per semester plus 8 EUR for the student card. This fee includes the student union membership (discounts on meals, etc.).

Costs of living

If a visa is required, the immigration authorities require proof of funding. This may be the sum of 8,000 EUR or a guarantee on the part of parents or another person. Another possibility is proof of a scholarship which guarantees enough money to cover living expenses in Germany. Approx. 750-800 EUR per month can be considered as appropriate to cover personal expenses.

Job opportunities

Due to the intensive nature of the programme, students have limited time for part-time jobs. Assistant lecturer positions can sometimes be offered at the university, but they are not guaranteed before enrolment.

Arrival support

The International Office provides all information needed for obtaining a visa, finding accommodation and finding your way around. Student guides provide a pick-up service for newcomers and support them with initial administrative procedures (registration, opening a bank account, etc.).

Services and support for international students

As the intake of this programme is typically approx. 15 students per semester, the university can provide extensive support and welcome services for foreign students. The International Office offers a number of excursions and advisory and social activities throughout the year.

Accommodation

The International Office provides assistance in finding a room in a student residence prior to arrival in Zweibrücken. Student residences are typically spread throughout the city. The private market offers further possibilities. Rent is approx. 250-300 EUR per month.
