The Chemistry-Biology Combined Major Program (CBCMP) offers students a new opportunity to learn two fundamental and interacting fields, while preparing them for the challenges of the rapidly advancing scientific frontier. The aim of this program is to impart fundamental knowledge and research skills for interdisciplinary research in chemistry and biology, and to expose students to a multicultural environment for intercultural understanding and communication. This program provides classes taught in English in the liberal arts, basic sciences, and basic mathematics, as well as in-depth chemistry and biology classes such as organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology, molecular genetics, and more.

This program also offers an intensive Japanese Language Program for foreign students. Specifically, several Japanese language courses are provided for foreign students relative to the level of their Japanese proficiency.

Special features of this program are the small classes and seminars, enabling the highest educational opportunities while providing substantial practice and world-class top-level experiments using modern apparatuses and equipment. Most of the students in this program will be expected to enter a graduate course at the Graduate School of Science, the Graduate School of Engineering, or the Graduate School of Engineering Science of Osaka University. These graduate courses will take advantage of the rich array of scientific accomplishments and experiences acquired through the graduate courses taught in English, as well as through world-class cutting-edge research activities.
