This program is aligned with the AITSL Professional Standards for Teachers, and is designed to support the development of teachers’ knowledge and skills as they progress through the stages of their career. It is suitable for primary and secondary trained teachers in all school contexts.

This course will also assist you in taking the lead, shaping school-wide programs that enhance teaching and learning.

  • You will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills to authentic problems, tasks and scenarios.
  • A capstone unit will give you the opportunity to integrate the knowledge and skills you gain across all your subjects, and a research unit will teach you how apply this in a rigorous and scholarly way to solve a substantive educational issue of your choice
  • This course is available on campus, online, or through a combination of both, which means you can continue to work full-time while studying.
  • Minimum number of credit points at 800 level or above 48 ECTS
  • Minimum number of credit points at 800 level or above from units with an EDCN or EDUC prefix 40 ECTS
  • You will develop the knowledge and skills required to respond to changing educational environments, as well as learn how to develop, implement and evaluate innovative, evidence-based solutions. 
  • You can choose to complete a specialisation in the areas of Advanced Practices in Teaching and Learning, and Leading Teaching and Learning.
  • You’ll be taught by academics who are active researchers in their fields and they will guide you to the most up-to-date international research, theories, principles, and practices in education.

Minimum admission requirements

• Australian level 7 bachelor's qualification or recognised equivalent in education; or Australian level 7 qualification or recognised equivalent with 2 years full-time equivalent work experience relevant to the chosen specialisation 

English language requirements

IELTS of 7.0 overall (with minimum 6.0 in Reading, 6.5 in Writing, 6.0 in listening, 6.0 in Speaking) or equivalent

All applicants for undergraduate or postgraduate coursework studies at Macquarie University are required to provide evidence of proficiency in English.
