Curriculum

The Master of Public Health (MPH) study program covers the following teaching subjects:

core courses including public health and health care, health policy and strategy, health economics, environmental health, applied epidemiology, human relations and health ethics, management of changes, health law, health information management and research work, applied health psychology and elective courses, including international health management, social paediatrics, occupational health care and food safety, public health nutrition etc.

Teaching Method

Coursework is divided into lectures, seminars and practical work. Seminars and practical work are based on interactive and creative learning methods, e.g., presentations, workshops, discussions, brainstorming sessions and case studies.

Evaluation of performance

Examinations are taken upon completion of each subject.

The study programme is completed by a masters thesis defence.

Competences you gain

Graduates in public health will have the ability to:

· carry out public health monitoring;

· critically assess public health issues;

· develop policy and strategy of public health and public health care;

· plan, implement and control health programmes and assess their social and economical effectiveness;

· plan, organise and administrate health promotion activities at different levels and work of health care institutions;

· carry out health care quality control and organise the implementation of public health ethics and patient rights in personal health care institutions.

After graduation

After successful completion of the programme and obtaining the diploma, students can work as specialists in the highest-level health care structures, public health centers and bureaus, medical services in municipalities, personal health care institutions or to teach in higher education institutions. Graduates may also consider undertaking further postgraduate research and study for a PhD.
