You have to complete a total of nine modules of which the Dissertation or Work Placement Project are triple modules. Four modules are taught-core compulsory modules and two are option modules.The course can be taken full time or part time.


The four compulsory taught modules are:

1. EB 4602: Theory and Practice in Intercultural Business Communication
2. EB 4709: Language and the Media
3. EB 4902: Organisational Communication
4. EB 4708: Multicultural Marketing

You must choose one of the triple modules:

EB 4701: The Dissertation
OR
EB 4702: The Work Placement Project (based on a work placement of at least 6 weeks)

Option modules:In addition to the compulsory modules, you will need to take two option modules which can be selected from the pathways listed below. The modules allow participants to develop further knowledge in a field of their interest such as linguistics, public relations, human resource management and translation, and to apply this knowledge to intercultural business communication in various contexts. However, entry to some of the modules is not automatic as there may be pre-requisites. In addition, options will only run provided there are adequate numbers.

At the end of the course, you will have acquired knowledge and understanding of principles and theories of communication, language, culture and society; developed an awareness of how cultural differences can create conflict; and learned skills for undertaking independent research. You will also have an opportunity to do a paid internship at Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida.

Students will be offered the opportunity to attend a residential team building training programme at the beginning of Semester 1. Students from non-traditional or international educational backgrounds have the opportunity to enrol for the free Certificate in Academic Development or to audit academic essay sessions to help them perform better in a UK University environment. Other opportunities include the International Society, the HOST Organisation, international films at the Mitchell and Kenyon Cinema. In addition there are opportunities to act as language ambassadors for your country.

* A minimum of a lower second-class honours degree (or equivalent) in Arts, Social Science, or Business related disciplines. * Applicants able to demonstrate appropriate work-based experience or possessing alternative professional qualifications will be considered on an individual basis. Interviews may be required as part of the admissions process. English Language Requirements IELTS band: 6.5 TOEFL paper-based test score : 600 IMPORTANT NOTE: Since April 2014 the ETS tests (including TOEFL and TOEIC) are no longer accepted for Tier 4 visa applications to the United Kingdom. The university might still accept these tests to admit you to the university, but if you require a Tier 4 visa to enter the UK and begin your degree programme, these tests will not be sufficient to obtain your Visa.
