This programme has been developed and is administered by Newcastle University in association with the Northern Centre for Cancer Care (NCCC) and affiliation of the Northern Institute of Cancer Research (NICR).

All programmes offered are Multi-disciplinary work-based, using the Virtual Learning Environment, Blackboard. Highlighting the inter-relationship between oncology and clinical cancer service provision, they include mutually valuable information which will facilitate change in clinical practice.

The programmes cover all aspects of delivering seamless care to patients and include treatment modalities, biological, psychosocial and ethical perspectives.

It provides multi-professional pathways in the fields of oncology and palliative care. It will develop practitioners who are prepared to offer clinical leadership, clinical excellence, and cultivate interdisciplinary collaboration in the delivery of evidence based oncology/palliative care. Aimed at practitioners including:

* doctors, nurses,
* pharmacists, physiotherapists,
* occupational therapists and radiographers
* or for SHOs and Registrars training for part one of the FRCR examination or in Medical Oncology.

You must be competent in the use of the Internet, e-mail and word-processing packages. You can study from anywhere in the world as long as you have access to a computer and a reliable internet connection.

Successful completion 180 credits will lead to an MSc qualification of your chosen strand (Oncology, Palliative Care or Oncology for the Pharmaceutical Industry). Alternatively, you can study towards a Postgraduate Diploma (120 credits), or Postgraduate Certificate in Cancer Studies (60 credits).

Modules
All programmes must be completed within five years of starting and are delivered via e-learning. The MSc programmes are designed to last three-five years but you will study at your own pace within the guidelines provided. The MSc programmes will normally take a minimum of three academic years to complete, to achieve this you must study 30 credits per semester.

Pathway Options

* Oncology includes modules which are specific to the diagnosis, radical and palliative aspects of treatment.

* Oncology for the Pharmaceutical Industry

* Palliative Care focuses on supporting patients' complex pain / symptom / psychological needs.

* Cancer Studies no specific pathway, students can choose from any of the modules offered.

Each 10 credit module is the equivalent to 100 hours of notional study time. This includes time spent studying the course materials, networking with fellow students, reading, research, working through interactive activities preparing assessments, time spent with mentor, emailing your module leader and taking part in discussions boards.

All modules are offered subject to the constraints of the timetable and any restrictions on the number of students who may be taught that module. Not all modules will be offered each year.

We like to be as flexible as possible with students. You may wish to take fewer modules per semester. You can choose between 10 and 30 credits per semester depending on how quickly you want to finish your chosen programme.

A second-class Honours degree, or equivalent, in a health related subject. You must be IT literate to complete these highly interactive programmes and have access to a computer with a printer and a reliable Internet connection. English Language Requirements IELTS band: 7 IMPORTANT NOTE: Since April 2014 the ETS tests (including TOEFL and TOEIC) are no longer accepted for Tier 4 visa applications to the United Kingdom. The university might still accept these tests to admit you to the university, but if you require a Tier 4 visa to enter the UK and begin your degree programme, these tests will not be sufficient to obtain your Visa.
