The focus is on CMOS, where billions of devices are used to build a system on a single silicon die. The Master's in System-on-Chip programme is very popular with students, largely due to the fact that it is unique in its offering. It spans areas from radio frequency (RF) circuits through to data conversion and digital circuits. Another distinguishing programme feature is that circuit design is linked to the area of wireless communication, where RF front-ends are co-designed with digital baseband, which provides the opportunity to build complete transceivers. Due to the extensive local industry, the Master's in System-on-Chip programme is closely linked with a variety of private companies, which ensures our courses maintain high market relevance. In some cases our students degree projects result in patent registrations and the opportunity to publish their work at international conferences.

Special features of the Master's in System-on-Chip programme :

* The focus is on applied studies in digital IC design, analogue/ RF IC design and mixed signal/data conversion IC design.
* All taught study involves hands-on laboratory work using the most modern CAD tools and IC technologies.
* After the initial taught courses, students undertake a large project, where the student starts from a digital or analogue design specification and carries it through to completion, and, in some cases, silicon realisation.
* The Master's in System-on-Chip programme is taught by world leading researchers and there are very strong links to research in the field. The focus is on applied studies in digital IC design, analogue/RF IC design and mixed signal/data conversion IC design.

The Master of Science Programme in System-on-Chip Design is a curriculum between the bachelor degree and a continuation with Ph.D. degree studies. This programme is now a Master of Science programme, which is a new two year curriculum developed from a former three-term Master programme in Lund. The New programme is adapted to the ongoing process in Europe towards degrees that are comparable and valid in all countries. The Master of Science degree will thus make you well prepared as a high level professional in the high-tech industry.

The programme emphasizes design methods, architectures and circuit design for system level integration on silicon. The new curriculum, based on System-on-Chip design, will be open to international students with a bachelor's degree and students who have graduated from Swedish university colleges with a "Kandidat" degree. Students who would like an alternative to their 4th year master's exam can also apply through exchange programmes like Erasmus and Time. The programme consists of 120 ECTS credits of studies and is approximately 4 terms long. The programme is structured to 90 ECTS credits of course work and a 30 ECTS credits degree project (Master's thesis work), typically done in industry or in close association with our research work. After completion, you will be awarded, by Lund University the title of "Teknologie Master i system på chips" with the English translation "Master of Science in System-on-Chip".
