Do you want to become a Change Agent within ICT for development? We have a special programme for you! Our vision for the new masters programme, Information and communication technology for development (ICT4D), is to prepare individuals who are ready and able to initiate and implement sustainable change with rigor in developing regions. Our goal is to train graduates who will be aware of the many challenges of development work and able to face them creatively and innovatively. As a student in this program, you will play an active role and we expect you to grow into a bold, knowledgeable and motivated Change Agent contributing to environmental, economic, and social sustainability.

Information and communication technology (ICT) has become a key factor in global development. A rapid expansion of infrastructure as well as services and applications has made ICT an essential part of todays societiesboth in developing and developed countries. However, ICT takes different forms and functions in different parts of the world. This programme prepares students for work in highly dynamic environments of Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D), including international organisations, non-governmental organisations (NGO), government agencies, and global business.

ICT4D is a new, interdisciplinary field that studies the use of technological innovation for socio-economic development. At Stockholm University, ICT4D follows a rights-based approach to development, with an emphasis on gender as well as environmental, economic, and social sustainability.

The ICT4D Masters Programme is an online programme based on open courseware. It is the only open program of its kind globally, designed for students from around the world. Leading experts and researchers in ICT4D offer students a unique opportunity to acquire up-to-date knowledge in the rapidly evolving field of ICT4D.

The Programme is sponsored by The Swedish Program for ICT in Developing Regions (Spider), a resource center for ICT4D based at DSV, Stockholm University.
