This course is designed for professionals working in central and eastern Europe. It may also interest students living and working in other countries, who have a desire to work in central and eastern Europe.

We provide you with the transferable and vocational skills needed in the rapidly changing real estate environment, especially in large multinational real estate and construction firms. The course furthers your professional career and gives you an international understanding of real estate and construction. It also provides excellent networking opportunities.

This course is designed to give you direct access to professional status and membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). You work towards the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) of RICS. This prepares you for senior technical or management positions within real estate or construction organisations.

The course is ideal if you are a professional working in

* construction and development

* banks and management consultancies which include real estate consulting activities

You explore performance management issues linking business performance to real estate. You also complete an interdisciplinary project, which makes sure your learning includes real-life approaches to major real estate projects.

This involves you working with practitioners and looking at examples of modern real estate practice. It is completed on a live development site, combining all you have learned. This offers a challenging, intensive but rewarding experience.

You critically evaluate the o legal o social o economic o political o cultural influences on real estate markets. You study the principles relating to the valuation, appraisal, funding and strategic management of real estate investments.

Assessing the structure and operation of the construction and real estate industries, you examine how they contribute to the wider economy and the property development process.

You study alongside students taking the MSc Real Estate Construction and Development course.

Both courses have common modules at postgraduate certificate level, but this course has a greater focus on examining the

* complex relationships between corporate strategy, business management and real estate, and you study how these are responding to a rapidly changing business environment
* valuation, appraisal, funding and strategic management of real estate investments

You attend intensive residential workshops, which we expect to take place in Prague, Warsaw and Berlin. The workshops provide you with regional networking opportunities, valued by employers.

You use case studies, simulations and other interactive teaching methods to debate the main ideas of the course. We prepare you for each residential study using our virtual learning environment known as Blackboard.

This course is a partnership between Sheffield Hallam and Nottingham Trent ensuring that you have the support of experienced tutors from two UK universities.

During your study in the UK you work with UK practitioners, and look at examples of modern real estate practice while working on a development site. This project on a live development site combines all you have learned and offers a challenging, intensive but rewarding experience.

These modules are completed in two and three day workshops.

Postgraduate diploma

* corporate investment and asset management

You examine the complex relationships between corporate strategy, business management and real estate. You study how these are responding to a rapidly changing business environment.

You examine the valuation, appraisal, funding and strategic management of real estate investments.
These modules are completed during three day workshops.

Masters

* interdisciplinary development project

You complete this during a five day residential workshop in the UK. You work in teams on a complex live development project, preparing a detailed highest and best use appraisal of the site.

* consultancy project on investment and management

You complete an individual consultancy project with our online support. It is designed to combine work based, professional and academic approaches to real estate.

You typically need a first degree or equivalent. Plus an English language qualification such as * International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) overall band 6.5 * Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) - pass * Assessment and Qualifications Alliance (AQA) or Northern Examinations and Assessment Board (NEAB) University Entrance test in English for Speakers of Other Languages (UETESOL) - pass * Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score 550 (paper based) or 213+ (computer based)You should work in a relevant area of real estate or construction. We will still consider you if you do not have formal academic qualifications but have substantial previous knowledge and experience.Normally, you start the course at postgraduate certificate stage. You may be able to start at the diploma stage, depending on your previous qualifications or experience. This course is designed to give direct access to professional status and membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

You work towards the Assessment of Professional Competence of RICS. We expect you to be able to apply for the assessment interview after completing the course.
