Are you a sport science graduate seeking the opportunity to develop expert knowledge in the science of sport performance? Are you looking for the opportunity to learn applied techniques to develop a career in sport science support, academic research, teaching and other science based professions?

This course provides a contemporary, interdisciplinary and applied approach to the science of Sport Performance Enhancement. You'll have the opportunity to advance your knowledge and understanding of scientific principles in this context. You'll learn how to apply theoretical concepts and to develop practical professional skills for situations that sports scientists encounter on a daily basis.

At the successful completion of the MSc Sport Performance Enhancement programme you will:

* Have an advanced understanding of science in the context of sport and exercise
* Be able to apply theoretical concepts and professional skills in practical situations likely to be encountered by a sport and exercise scientist
* Be able employ advanced investigative, analytical and practical techniques to advance knowledge in your field
* Use enhanced knowledge and skills in sport and exercise science to increase employability in an academic or applied setting
* Develop as a reflective practitioner taking responsibility for your own learning and on-going professional development

What's involved
The course is studied full-time over one year and is split up into three trimesters. Alternatively it can be studied by individualised part-time study with attendance. You can choose to start this course in either February or September. You'll learn by a variety of teaching methods including lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, and through independent study. There may also be some opportunities to study abroad.

Scientific Methods plus two core modules

Trimester 2

Scientific Support in Sport, Contemporary Issues in Sport and Exercise Science, Independent Study Module (40 credits)

Trimester 3

Research project (60 credits)

The English language tests and scores we accept are: * IELTS 6.0 overall with no element below 5.5 * TOEFL IBT 80 or above with at least 17 in listening, 18 in reading, 20 in speaking and 17 in writing * Pearsons Test of Academic English 56 or above with at least a score of 51 in the listening, reading, writing and speaking components * Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE) at grade C or above * You'll need a good Honours degree in sport science, sport and exercise science, coaching science or related area Degree-equivalent qualifications will be considered in related areas, e.g physiology, psychology, physical education, as will appropriate experience gained sport science, sport and exercise science, coaching science or related area. English Language Requirements IELTS band: 6 TOEFL iBT® test: 80 IMPORTANT NOTE: Since April 2014 the ETS tests (including TOEFL and TOEIC) are no longer accepted for Tier 4 visa applications to the United Kingdom. The university might still accept these tests to admit you to the university, but if you require a Tier 4 visa to enter the UK and begin your degree programme, these tests will not be sufficient to obtain your Visa.
