One of Australia’s oldest actor-training institution

Turn your dream into a reality. Our Bachelor of Creative Arts (Theatre) will teach you to master your choice of theatre performance, theory, or stage management at one of Australia’s longest running professional training regimes. This degree provides an equal mix of studio practice and theoretical interrogation and  learning, which allows you to explore areas such as children and young people’s theatre, community theatre, creative development of new works and video production. You will master textual analysis, scene rehearsal, vocal/body instrument training, improvisation,  dramatic history/literature,  and public performance. After the first year, you can also choose to audition to pursue specialised training in the Acting Studio or the Stage Management and Technical Production Studio.

Take the opportunity to specialise in one studio for the entire degree or combine disciplines within creative arts or other areas of study.

Practical experience

USQ offers unique practical experience through USQ’s  very own production company Artsworx.  Throughout the year Artsworx stages many public theatre and music productions and exhibitions and works extensively to provide practical opportunities for students studying Creative Arts as well as bring experience of the arts into our local communities.

There are also many opportunities to demonstrate your skills in TV scenes, show-reels, the Children’s Festival, Naturalism Now and the magical Shakespeare in the Park Festival.

Students in the Bachelor of Creative Arts have the opportunity to choose one of a series of extended majors offered as part of their selected specialisation. An extended major is a specified group of courses with values of 16, 20, or 24 units.

  • Theatre Studies (16 unit Major)
