You will gain the appropriate knowledge and advanced laboratory skills to apply for careers in the biomedical science field, including those relating to the diagnosis and management of human disease, and laboratory careers in the pharmaceutical andbiotechnology industries.

Course Content
You will cover the key foundations of biomedical science including: diagnosis and pathology of disease, molecular biology, genetics, cell biology and microbiology.
Laboratory work is a substantial component of the course, enabling you to learn a wide range of techniques in modern, well-equipped laboratories and help them develop the key experimental, data handling and reporting skills required in biological careers. Considerable focus is also placed on graduate-level skills which are essential when you apply for jobs.
Your course will be based on lectures, with associated laboratory practical classes, workshop
activities and tutorials.
All students are initially admitted to the IBMS accredited Biomedical Science degree. However, you can compete for a one year placement in an approved biomedical training laboratory between year two and three, if successful in the placement you can transfer to the HCPC approved Applied Biomedical Science degree course.

Merit Scholarship SchemeMerit Scholarship scheme: £1,000, in year one only and based on academic performance.
