This system provides chance for students to perform high level research on a specified topic. It's intended to provide an chance for students to create their potential for research, to recognize and work at the solution of a challenge. Students may be asked to take additional desktop units, most of which must be passed on with an exceptional aggregate. The training program planner or Head of the Department will determine if such units are required. Research topics span a vast range of tasks, exploration geophysics being the common denominator. The fundamentals and methods of exploration geophysics are employed to problems and areas characterized by the petroleum and mineral exploration market.
Graduates are eligible for membership to The Australian Society of Exploration Geophysicists, The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, The Society of Exploration Geophysicists (USA) and the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers. The Commonwealth Public Service Board takes the Master of Science in Geophysics as fulfilling its needs for consultation as a professional geophysicist.
