Description
Teaching at Sunderland is fully up-to-date with the latest trends in technology and the needs of high-tech employers. Teaching is further enriched by our research that has been classed as world-leading by the Research Assessment Exercise.
You will gain plenty of hands-on experience through challenging projects that develop your creativity and technical skills. These make full use of our outstanding IT facilities. We provide professional-level developer software and advanced hardware through accreditations with Microsoft, Cisco and other major companies.
We encourage our students to undertake a year-long placement between the second and final years, although it is not compulsory. Its a great opportunity to get paid to put your learning into practice and to extend your experience.
The North East ranks as no.2 region in the UK for number of software companies, second only to London. Regional employers include Sage, the FTSE 100s only digital company. As a result there are excellent opportunities for well-trained graduates.
Graduates of our course will automatically gain exemption from some of the requirements of the British Computer Society BCS, the UKs Chartered Institute for IT. Becoming chartered through the BCS is a further way to demonstrate your professionalism and value to potential employers.
