The Master of Amerikanistik/American Studies at the University of Regensburg is an international, interdisciplinary, four-semester programme that provides a historically informed, culturally diverse, and scholarly reflected understanding of America from both domestic and international perspectives. Applicants must possess an excellent command of the English language at level C1 (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). Please note that the MA programme in American Studies is an English-language programme. German-language proficiency is not required, although it is advisable to have basic German language skills.Academic requirements
Applicants are required to have an above-average first academic degree completed in a programme with components related to the study of North America - usually a BA or equivalent, or a higher academic degree. Applicants must also demonstrate their aptitude for the American Studies graduate programme. The International Office offers the free orientation programme "Startklar", which supports incoming students with organisational matters such as bank accounts, health insurance, university enrolment, and the city's foreigners' registration office. During the semester, the International Coffee Hour (twice a week) offers opportunities to meet other international and German students.
