The course is designed for graduates seeking to gain a solid foundation into the growing discipline of International Commercial Law. The LLM in International Commercial Law is designed to provide a flexible route for students to be able to focus on areas of their own interest and further explore commercial law in both the European and wider International contexts.

The programme provides the opportunity for students to tailor the programme to their needs and select the areas of commercial law in which they wish to specialise by offering a large number of elective modules from which the students can choose. Students on completing the programme are expected to be able to critically analyse legal concepts as well as practical scenarios. Such knowledge is increasingly sought by law firms, businesses and government bodies all over the world in response to the expansion of international trade and commerce and international regulation, resulting from economic, political and technological change.

The programme is available full-time:

Aims

This research led programme is designed for law graduates who wish to develop specialist knowledge of aspects of the increasingly important field of international commercial law.

LLM Law in International Commercial Law is designed for students seeking to gain a solid foundation in this growing discipline with an aim to become practitioners or to continue with further studies and research.

This programme provides students with the knowledge and understanding to confidently tackle areas of controversy in these areas of law, to be able to assess critically situations and challenges, appreciate the importance of the international boundaries, and the influence of culture on the processes of law. The programme is designed to give as much flexibility as possible, in order to provide students to tailor their learning to their interests.

* To enable graduates to develop an expertise in the corpus and complexities of commercial, competition, trade law and financial regulations

* To equip graduates with critical and analytical skills in this complex international field

* To enable graduates to demonstrate through original research the application of knowledge, practical understanding and critical appreciation that can contribute to the discourse on both corporate law and the financial regulations in place

To provide graduates with the professional skills required to develop a career in commercial law, law practice and the academia.

The LLM International Commercial Law is normally awarded to students who successfully complete taught modules of 120 credits and a dissertation weighted at 60 credits (180 credits in total).

A UK first or second class Honours degree or equivalent internationally recognised qualification in Law. Other related disciplines and qualifications will be considered and in such cases assessed on an individual basis by the Postgraduate Director and an interview may be required.English Language Requirements * IELTS: 6.5 (min 6 in all areas) * Pearson: 58 (51 in all subscores) * BrunELT: 65% (min 60% in all areas) English Language Requirements IELTS band: 6.5 IMPORTANT NOTE: Since April 2014 the ETS tests (including TOEFL and TOEIC) are no longer accepted for Tier 4 visa applications to the United Kingdom. The university might still accept these tests to admit you to the university, but if you require a Tier 4 visa to enter the UK and begin your degree programme, these tests will not be sufficient to obtain your Visa.
