The Political Science Department at Rutgers-Camden is committed to engaging students in a rigorous exploration of how individuals, groups and societies interact to pursue both their values and their interests. Our goal for the political science major is to equip students with the knowledge and skills for effective participation in civic life and leadership and for careers in the law, politics, government service, national security or the nonprofit sector.

Political Science majors with a 3.0 GPA overall and in Political Science are encouraged to apply for the Department Honors Program that provides the opportunity to take two Honors Seminars offered by faculty in their areas of research expertise and to work directly with an individual faculty member on original research for an Honors Thesis. Successful completion of the Honors Program is reflected on students’ official transcript.
