Geology

Geology is one of the Natural Sciences, which studies the structure of Earth, its origin and development. Modern Geology focuses not only in the Earth structure, but in structure of other planets. Geology is a multidisciplinary study, which combines physics and chemistry, history and agriculture.

The objects of Geology are as follows:

  • Composition and structure of cosmic objects and the Earth as a whole;
  • The processes on the surface and in the depths of the Earth;
  • Studying of the history of the Earth and other planets;
  • The placement of minerals (which is the most applied task of Geology as a discipline).

Geology combines a lot of disciplines, and every of them have its specific objects and its own research methods. The list of Geology subdivisions includes Mineralogy, Paleontology, Volcanology, Seismology, Lithology, Geocryology. All Geology subdisciplines can be combined in four groups - applied (or engineering) geology, historical geology, dynamic geology (which studies modern geological processes), and sciences of the earth's crust.
