Peace and Conflict Studies is one of the Social Science disciplines, which is dedicated to the nature of violent and peaceful human behavior, its causes and effects. It is an interdisciplinary subject, uniting conflictology, ethics, philosophy, sociology, history, psychology and many other disciplines. The purpose of this science is searching for ways of non-violent solutions and prevention of conflicts within the society and between countries.

It is believed that the founder of the science was Immanuel Kant, who often turned to the subject in his philosophical writings. But as a research and applied discipline Peace and Conflict Studies has appeared in second half of XX century. Nowadays, Peace and Conflict Studies work on issues such as conflicts in the Middle East.

Peace and Conflict Studies is usually taught as a separate degree, either undergraduate or graduate. Usually Peace and Conflict Studies are based by faculties of Social or Political Sciences. Undergraduate study programs in Peace and Conflict Studies can last from three to four years, and usually includes a part-time job placement, long-term internship of a year abroad.
