Acceptance of documents for the scholarship from the Aga Khan Foundation 2019-2020 is open.This organization annually offers scholarships for master's or postgraduate studies to students from developing countries who have no other means of paying for their studies.

Funding

The scholarship is 50% grant and 50% lending.Half of the scholarship is a loan that the student must repay. The loan is given at 5% per annum for a period of 5 years (the deadline for loan repayment is 6 months after graduation).

The organization helps with paying for student accommodation and tuition, travel expenses are not taken into account.

The Foundation only covers tuition and living expenses. Flights and meals are not included in the AKF scholarships.Funding for postgraduate programs occurs only during the first two years of study, after which students should seek alternative sources of assistance.Financial aid is provided in accordance with the needs of the student, but he is expected to make every effort to obtain funding from other sources so that the amount requested from the Fund can be minimized. Also, preference is given to those who were able to obtain certain funding from other sources.

Requirements for candidates

Preference is given to candidates who plan to study for a master's degree. But candidates wishing to study in graduate school can also apply. Applications for training for short courses are not available.

You can choose to study at any university (except universities in the UK, Germany, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, Netherlands, Italy, Norway and Ireland)

Citizens of countries: Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda,Madagascar and Mozambique.

  • residing in the country in which they are located: offices of the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), Aga Khan Education Services (AKES) or Aga Khan Education Board (AKEB) that submit applications and conduct interviews (in Russia)

  • France, Portugal, UK, USA and Canada will accept an application if you are from one of the above developing countries, and if you are interested in doing research and have no other means of funding your education.

  • priority is given to candidates under the age of 30;

  • candidates with excellent academic performance and financial difficulties in paying for tuition;

  • candidates who are admitted to university for a program that is relevant to the Aga Khan Foundation;

  • candidates also need to have experience in the field in which they want to study (they will also pay attention to extracurricular activities, career plans and the potential to achieve their goals)

Loan conditions

Half of the scholarship amount is considered a loan that must be refunded with an annual service charge of 5%. You will also need to sign a loan agreement.
