American students are breaking stereotypes
University students in Chicago donned hijabs in support of their Muslim peers. The Muslim Student Association held an event called "Walk a Mile in Her Hijab" at a university in Chicago to improve understanding between people of different cultures and religions. At the event, Western students had the opportunity to wear a hijab and walk around in it for a while.17 non-Muslim girls spent the morning wearing hijabs attending university discussions on tolerance and Islamophobia.
According to the President of the Muslim Student Association, you cannot condemn a person's lifestyle and values until you take his place and understand the true reasons for his behavior.
The event participants noted that it was a good experience for them in breaking negative stereotypes about representatives of other cultures, and they hope that a similar event will take place at the university next year.
