Coursera launches course on enhancing learning effectiveness
This August, all users of Coursera's online course platform can learn how to study right by taking a course (www.coursera.org/learn/learning-how-to-learn). The author is Barbara Oakley, who did not make "D's" in high school a barrier to earning a Ph.D.
On March 1, the University of California, San Diego, will launch a course called "Learning to Learn: Outstanding Thinking Techniques to Help You Handle Tough Subjects. According to the course's creator, the main goal is to help people learn more effectively instead of wasting time. And these techniques, the course developers say, are suitable for a variety of fields. Barbara Oakley promises to share some important research in cognitive psychology and neuroscience, and also promises that the course will include practical experiences in teaching challenging university courses. Those interested in taking the course will learn how the process of learning, processing, and retaining information works.
