Why don't students go to study in the UK?

The UK has lost its share of the lucrative international education market due to a new immigration policy, according to a cross-party parliamentary group. For example, Indian students have already preferred Australia to Great Britain.

“Immigration issues should not affect students in any way,” noted a cross-party parliamentary group after the inaugural meeting.

These reports reinforce earlier concerns by Members of Parliament and academics that a decline in net migration at the expense of international students could reduce the UK's popularity in the international education market.

Three years ago, the chairmen of five parliamentary committees wrote to Prime Minister David Cameron urging him to remove students from the anti-migration task force, but the government refused. As a result, according to BBC data last month, 30,000 foreign students have been reduced visas to stay in the United Kingdom in a year.

To solve this problem, the new cross-party parliamentary group is going to take the following actions:

  1. students for the UK economy and workforce

  2. encourage foreign governments to send their students to the UK

  3. indicate changes that could harm the education sector

  4. develop a series of measures that will make the stay in the UK more enjoyable for international students and increase the UK's share of the education market

According to Lord Bilimoria, foreign students are very beneficial for the country. “We should not strive for small increases in international performance, but do everything to show international students that they are happy to see them throughout the UK,” he added.
