We recently publishedentryabout the DAAD scholarship to study German.In honor of International Translator Day, we decided to share more about scholarships for language learning and translation.

Grants for translations from Italian

Every year, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs financially supports translators who work with books, films, TV series in Italian.The awards are given for contributions to the popularization of the country's culture and language.The program includes two types of funding: grants for translation from Italian, which is just planned, and prizes for completed works.Applications can be submitted until March 31st.Details can be foundby reference .Some of the information is in Italian.

Study the Language and Culture of Iceland

The Ministry of Education provides 15 scholarships for students who wish to study the culture and language of Iceland.Training takes place from September to April and is part of the undergraduate program.Upon completion, you will pass the exam and receive 30 ECTS credits.Funding covers course fees and a monthly stipend that will cover a room.

Citizens of Russia and some other countries can apply until December 1.It is necessary to attach a resume, a copy of the diploma or transcripts, two recommendations from the teachers of your university and a language certificate in English or Icelandic: you must have good knowledge, since teaching is conducted in two languages.All details can be readhere .

Technology for Translating and Interpreting

Among the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Programs you can find the programTechnology for Translating and Interpreting ...The training takes place at two universities in different countries.You can choose from the following:

  • University of Wolverhampton in the UK,
  • University of Malaga in Spain,
  • New Bulgarian University inBulgaria,
  • University of Ljubljana in Slovenia.

The program lasts two years, during which you will study translation technology and visit 2 countries.As a result, you will receive 120 ECTS credits and a Multiple Master's degree.

The program is funded by the European Union.In total for the period of study, they cover 3,052,000 euros.The recruitment will open on October 1 this year, and the program will last until 2024.Therefore, if you have not yet completed your bachelor's degree, but would like to take part, you will have a chance.

Language school in the Czech Republic

For those who want to better learn Czech, there is an opportunity to get to the Summer School of Slavonic Studies.They invite students, teachers and translators who are interested in the language and culture of the country.The courses last about 3-4 weeks and take place between July and September.

In addition to seminars on literature, language and history of the Czech Republic, you will find a cultural part of the program, which includes excursions and trips.The scholarship covers 3 meals a day, accommodation, course fees and extracurricular activities.You must pay for your insurance, flight and visa fees yourself.They are considering candidates from Russia, Ukraine and some other countries.Applications and CVs in Czech or English are accepted until March 31st.Read morehere .

Language studies in Poland

The government of the country offers scholarships to take courses in the language, culture and history of the country.Students are covered for tuition, travel and excursions, accommodation, 3 meals a day, training materials and a cash scholarship at the beginning of the course.

Accept applications from foreign candidates who do not have Polish education, study the language of the country and speak English at least at the B2 level.By April 15, applicants must send a resume, a completed application and a recommendation from your tutor or teacher at the university.More information about the conditions of participation and the program can be foundhere .
