Guide to applying to a master's program abroad

As with any university, it is not easy (but not impossible). The first prerequisite for admission is the possession of a bachelor's degree. With it, you have to tinker, translate it into English, provide a document explaining the Russian grading system, and so on. The work, of course, is not pleasant, but it is not necessary to obtain any other certificates of education, as it is done for admission to undergraduate programs at foreign universities.

You'll also need a foreign language certificate. If it's English, you'll likely be asked to provide results from IELTS or TOEFL. There are also other exams, but these two are the most common. It is important that, in most cases, your language skills should be not only good, but almost perfect, and, therefore, if you have plans to enter universities abroad, you should put a special emphasis on studying languages.

This is by no means a complete list of documents required for admission to a graduate school. Different universities may have different requirements, but you will probably be asked for motivation letters and recommendation letters.

Separately, it's worth talking about the scholarship application. Of course, not all universities require it, but in those that do accept it, it offers a chance to make your financial situation much easier. In most foreign universities tuition fees are not cheap, and life abroad is usually much more expensive than life in Russia. Therefore, before you apply to any university, be sure to study this issue. The application itself is similar to the motivation letter with the difference that the letter explains why you should apply to the university, and the application explains why you should get a scholarship. It is important to understand that this should not be an attempt to evoke pity, but rather an attempt to show your individuality.

There are many other things to keep in mind as well. To get into most universities you need to pass special internal exams and undergo interviews, so again, before you choose in favor of this or that institution you should thoroughly study the process of admission. You should think in advance about the financial issue, you should clearly understand how you will support yourself during training. Almost all countries have different work and study visas, and therefore study and work at the same time, as is often done in Russia, you can not. And, of course, you just need to learn the culture and history of the country, maybe find some acquaintances among the locals and get as much information about the daily life of people to understand if this country suits you and if you will not feel like an outsider.

The benefits of studying for a master's degree abroad are quite obvious and quite extensive. From a foreign degree to an exciting new experience, it all seems like a gamble worth participating in. However, it's important to understand that it's not just a fun trip. Studying abroad is serious work. It takes effort to get that lucky ticket, and it takes even more effort to work it out successfully.

We wish you the best of luck with your admission! If you still have questions, be sure to post in the comments.

We wish you the best of luck in getting in.
