Joan Shorenstein Center Scholarship for Journalists, Scholars and Politicians

Each year, the Joan Shorenstein Center at Harvard Institute of Public Administration provides eight fellowships for journalists, politicians, and academics.The aim of this program is to foster a dialogue between academics, journalists and politicians, to provide research in the field of media and politics, and to create an interested community of scientists and practitioners. For one semester, the fellows will be busy writing and publishing their work in the media and politics. Research will be published in publications such as Columbia Journalism Review, Foreign Affairs, The New Republic, and Fortune.

The amount of the scholarship

The amount of the scholarship is $ 30,000. Accommodation and travel expenses are not covered.Fellows are provided with a place to work, a computer and a telephone.

Requirements for applicants:

Semester in Cambridge, Massachusetts. A high level of English proficiency is required.More specific requirements for applicants are presented below.

A journalist (or correspondent, editor, producer) applying for a scholarship must have at least five years of experience in a news agency.

The scholar applying for the scholarship is expected to have at least seven years of teaching experience, a degree in journalism, political science or international relations, and a list of publications.

A politician is required to be elected to a high public office in order to receive a scholarship.
