Maria Sklodowska-Curie Scholarships

If you are a postdoc or have an impressive experience in research activities and would like to expand your experience in one of the European universities, then the Maria Sklodowska Grant-Curie will be a great opportunity for you to build an international career and advance in your studies.

The program is funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Support Program (H2020).

The aim of the program is to develop the creative and innovative potential of experienced researchers through professional development, international and cross-sectoral mobility in Europe and beyond, which could contribute to improving their careers in the academic and non-academic sectors.At the same time, scientists are given a free choice of research topic in cooperation with the host organization.

The amount of the scholarship

The scholarship includes the following expenses: expenses of the scholar - living allowance in the amount of € 4,650 per month (the coefficient of the host country is applied), the costs in connection with the move are € 600 and an additional € 500 (if the fellow comes with a family) per month;expenses of the host organization - carrying out scientific work and training the researcher (participation in conferences, seminars) - € 800 per month, overhead costs - € 650 per month.

Types of scholarships

There are several formats for individual scholarships. European scholarships can only be used in the territory of the Member StatesEU or AU and aims to support the following categories of researchers:

  • working on individual projects and moving within Europe to help them improve their scientific careers and achievehigh positions in organizations of the academic or non-academic sector (The Society & Enterprise Panel);

  • who wish to relocate to Europe for research and career development (Standard European Fellowships);

  • who wish to resume their research work in Europe after a break (candidates must not have conducted research activities for at least 12 months,prior to the deadline for submissions, scholarships will be awarded through The Career Restart Panel);

  • those wishing to return to Europe, including their country of origin, with the aim of reintegrating into a longer-term scientific position (funding will be provided through The Reintegration Panel, the researcher must comply with the rules of mobility in the host country).

There are also Global Fellowships.They are provided so that scientists can travel from Europe to another country to study and gain new knowledge, as well as to strengthen the international character of the work of European scientists.The researcher must return to the European host organization within 12 months and comply with the mobility regulations in the country where the secondment phase is taking place (not in the country of the return phase).European scholarships are available for 12-24 months, and global scholarships for 12-36 months, of which 12-24 months is the secondment phase in a third country and 12 months is the return phase to Europe.

Who is this program for?

Researchers and collaborators of any scientific discipline, of any age, and of any nationality.However, if you are applying for an Individual Scholarship, then you must not reside and engage in your primary business in the host country for more than 12 months in the three years preceding the deadline for applications.For applicants for other types of European scholarships, the period is slightly different - no more than 36 months in the 5 years preceding the deadline for applications.The host organization must be an institution based in the EU or AU and employing a scientist for the duration of the project.

The individual researcher submits his proposal for the competition in conjunction with the proposed host academic or non-academic organization.After pre-registration, you need to apply, and you need to select a competition, as well as the type and duration of the scholarship and the field of study (chemistry; social and human sciences; economic sciences; computer science and mechanical engineering; environment and geosciences; sciencelife;mathematics;physics) The applicant must also provide the following information: a brief biography or profile description;a list of five (maximum) publications and / or products or other achievements relevant to the proposal;a list of five previous projects or activities that are related to the topic of the proposal;a description of any significant infrastructure and / or equipment related to the proposed work;

Criteria

Proposals are evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • quality research project;

  • career prospects of a researcher;

  • Letter of support from the host organization.
