If studying is exhausting: how to cope with heavy mental stress

After physical labor it is not so difficult to rest - it is enough just to sleep or take a bath. The situation is somewhat different with intellectual fatigue. There are times when after work or study you want to read a useful book or listen to a podcast in English, but your brain is so overloaded with information for the day that even your favorite activities do not give you much joy.

Try to eat right

In a recent article, we looked at the foods a student should add to his or her diet to support the body. Those who have trouble remembering information need vitamins B1 and E. They are found in nuts, fish, dairy products, and cereals. Replace sweets with fruit, try to buy apricots and avocados more often. By the way, headaches also often come from a lack of vitamin E. Those who are often irritable need to add foods rich in potassium to their menu - such as spinach, cabbage or apples.

Get enough sleep

It's very important to let your body rest. Try to sleep at least 7 hours a night. Before an important exam it is better not to spend a sleepless night trying to learn as much material as possible, but calmly repeat all the most important things and go to bed early so that in the morning you feel awake and energetic. This rule is only for the duration of the session. During the school year, an hour before bedtime is better to avoid overloading your brain and sitting on social media. Choose a quiet activity that sets you up for rest.

Plan ahead for rest

When you make plans for the day, don't forget to include time for rest. It's important to unplug from all tasks for a while so you can, for example, do some exercise or eye exercises. A change of activity is great for those who are feeling mentally tired. A walk in the park or a jog to your favorite music can give you the energy boost you need.

If you work and study non-stop, sooner or later your body will start to fail. So try to pay attention to how you feel and stick to the simple rules outlined in this article.
