Description of the program

The advantage of the program - those who speak only English can take part in it. During the year, fellows undergo a special preparatory course at the Tokyo University of Foreign Languages ​​- they study Japanese, Japanese studies and other subjects necessary for admission to a higher educational institution in their chosen specialty.

International students then sit for entrance examinations at a government-designated university. The Ministry of Education of Japan independently chooses universities for candidates, taking into account the results of the first stage of the competition held in the homeland of the program participant, as well as his progress during the preparatory course. Those who fail the exams return home at their own expense.

The academic year in Japan does not begin in September, as in Russia, but on April 1. All classes are taught in Japanese.According to the terms of the program, it is forbidden to transfer to other universities while studying in the preparatory course and in the bachelor's degree.

Requirements for participants:

1. Citizens of those countries whohave diplomatic relations with Japan.

2. At the time of admission to the university, the candidate must be at least 18 years old.

3. Applications are accepted from those born after April 2, 1995.

4. The candidate must be interested in learning the Japanese language and culture of that country.

5. It is necessary to provide a medical certificate confirming that the applicant does not have physical or mental illnesses that interfere with his studies.

Military personnel, those who have already received grants from the Japanese government or are currently participating in other programs, as well as applicants who do not haveget throughtraining on time.

Length of study

Anyone who is fluent in Japanese can applyto the university with a scholarship without a preparatory course.You can start classes from the spring semester in April 2020 or from the fall.In the fall, the course starts in September or October, depending on the university schedule.The Japanese Ministry of Education will examine the applicant's documents and consult with a suitable university.Language test results may be required - for example, JLPT.In addition, sometimes higher education institutions conduct interviews with candidates.

Fellows who are fluent in Japanese will study for 4 years with the exception of a few majors.For 6 years, training continues for those who study medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine and pharmacology.

If you plan to take a preparatory course, then the duration of the program in Japan will be 5 years - from April 2020 to March 2025.

Those who have successfully completed their undergraduate studies can receive further admission to the graduate program.In this case, the term for the payment of the scholarship may be extended.

Scholarship Amount

Students receive a monthly scholarship of 117,000 yen...Students doing research sometimes receive a surcharge of 2,000 or 3,000 yen. Financial support may be terminated due to poor academic performance or absenteeism.

The Government of Japan will cover the cost of an economy class flight in both directions. The scholarship holder pays for the tickets back on his own in the event that he returns home earlier than the stated deadline for personal reasons or was expelled from the university.
