Postgraduate programs at the Max Planck Institute
The Max Planck Research Institute for Computational Biology and Scientific Computing provides postgraduate training in computer science and computational biology. The institute is a joint project of Freie Universität Berlin and the Max Planck Institute in the field of molecular genetics. The program provides comprehensive training in a number of disciplines and consists of writing a Ph.D. thesis in one of the subjects. The curriculum consists of a variety of scientific courses, internships and professional skills, as well as opportunities for international cooperation and travel.
In a well-formed and high-quality bioinformatics curriculum, students have the opportunity to attend lectures while writing their PhD work. Courses, seminars and collaborative research projects within the curriculum will foster close links between graduate students, which will open up even greater opportunities for the exchange of experience and knowledge.
In order to select the most promising students from around the world, the Institute institutes a two-stage selection, consisting of a written online application and a face-to-face competition at a symposium.
