Rachel Tanur Photography Grant Competition

The Rachel Tanur Grant Competition in «visual sociology» and photography is named in honor of Rachel Dorothy Tanur (1958–2002), an urban planner and lawyer who cared deeply about people and closely observed living conditions and human relationships. The purpose of this competition is to encourage students to use visual analysis (photography) in the study and understanding of social phenomena.

Grant is open to undergraduate and graduate students from around the world pursuing a major in the social sciences. At the time of the competition, participants must be studying, and their graduation date must be after the International Sociological Association (ISA) announces the results of the competition.

Grants are open to social science undergraduate and graduate students worldwide.

There are three grants to be awarded: 1st place = $2,500 USD, 2nd place = $1,500, 3rd place =$500. Prizes are awarded every two years.
