Dmitry Livanov made a working visit to the United States
February 24, 2015. (12:00) Dmitry Livanov, Russian Minister of Education and Science, made a working visit to the United States. During his visit, a meeting was organized and attended by the coordinating council of the Russian-speaking scientific community RASA-USA and scientists from Russia. The subject of the discussion was a plan for the development of joint projects. They also considered the system of coordination of research programs, development of student internships, opening of joint RASA scientific centers, and general programs of grant implementation.
The Minister presented to the participants programs which allow Russian-speaking scientists to establish partnerships with Russian institutes. Also during his trip, Dmitry Levanov attended a business meeting with UCLA Chancellor Gene Block in Los Angeles. UCLA is one of the leading higher education institutions in the United States, one of the elite of world higher education: it traditionally ranks among the top 10-20 universities according to the world ranking systems QS and THE.At this meeting the issues of cooperation in science and research activities were also discussed. In particular, common research programs with FEFU and ITMO University were proposed.At the end of the meeting Dmitry Livanov and Chancellor Gene Block decided to form financing instruments for interuniversity cooperation.
