Internship at the UN for journalists

Applicants from developing and transition countries are eligible to apply for the Reham Al-Farra Memorial Journalism Fellowship. This opportunity is available to journalists from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.

Requirements:

- age from 22 to 35 years old;

- excellent knowledge of English;

- you must work with the media staff (full time).

Applications will also be considered by experienced freelance journalists. To participate, you must fill out an online form on the website and provide the following documents:

1. 3 published articles. If they are not written in one of the official UN languages ​​(English, Arabic, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, and French), then it is necessary to send a short description of the work in English.

2. A letter of recommendation from your supervisor from your current place of work.

3. Summary in English or French.

4. Certificate of higher education.

Journalists who work in radio and television should upload their reports to one of the free file-sharing platforms (such as YouTube or Dropbox) and include links to their published work.

Reference letters are allowed to be sent in any language. The main condition is that they must contain the contacts of your boss. The application can be submitted until April 15, 2019. The program will take place in New York from September 15 to October 5. The organizers pay for the flight, as well as per diem (about $ 410 per day) for housing and meals.

For three weeks, journalists take part in special briefings, communicate with colleagues from around the world, and visit the editorial offices of such media outlets as The New York Times, Democracy Now! and radio WNYC.In past years, Fellows have met with the UN Secretary-General and ChairmanUN General Assembly.
