A robot will become an employee of Russian companies

Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin saw it with his own eyes when he visited the Tochmash defense institute. The inventors presented him with the development of the robot avatar. On January 20, the president received a report on the possibilities of its use.

"Avatar technologies are technologies of presence. In some cases, situations arise that require the presence of a specialist in a life-threatening work environment. Risking the life and health of the specialist is unreasonable. The Advanced Research Foundation initiated the work "Development of Control Systems for Complex Robotics Complexes". It is similar to the American "Rescue" program. The Americans are creating an anthropomorphic robot that should be able to use all the tools that humans use: drive a car, overcome obstacles, and use a screwdriver. Our robot should be able to do the same things, but we focus on virtual reality technology. That is, a specialist who puts on a robot control suit should feel the conditions in which the robot is. This is necessary to effectively control the robot. In a sense, it is an avatar," explains Igor Denisov, deputy director of the Advanced Research Foundation (ARF).

At the January 20 screening, the robot has already demonstrated some of its functions. By the end of 2015, the developers promise to significantly expand its capabilities.
