Schools will not go back to paper journals

March 10, 2015. (12:00) One of the important trends in the field of education at the moment is the complete transition to an electronic form of recording of academic achievement and attendance (keeping an electronic journal and diary without duplication in paper counterparts). To support this process in a number of regions «Dnevnik.ru» together with local educational authorities organized and accompanies experiments to abandon the paper journal in schools. At the moment more than 800 schools from 15 Russian regions are participating in the experiment.

In a recent survey in Astrakhan region where 75% of schools only electronically record attendance, Dnevnik.ru specialists learned how parents and teachers change their attitude toward the paper magazine.

Today, 84% of teachers surveyed are not considering going back to the old paper forms. Indeed, the renunciation of double work (maintaining paper and electronic journals in parallel) significantly saves teachers' time, as recognized by teachers. In the survey the respondents noted the benefits of switching to electronic document management: increased professionalism, competitiveness, as well as the ability to adapt to the changing social environment.

«It's important that teachers use all services of Diary.ru, including the possibility of online communication with parents via personal messaging system. For 99% of the teachers surveyed the parents' presence in the system is a matter of principle,"-Dnevnik.ru expert commented on the results of the survey.

The parents also rated the experiment. According to the survey, 92% of respondents were positive and neutral about giving up the paper journal.

«Modernization almost always has a positive effect on our lives. A system like e-journals is a successful step of modernization toward a comfortable and promising future,"parents shared their impressions of the experiment. It is clear that the urgency of this problem will increase day by day, as more and more public services are being converted to electronic form, and education informatization is a challenge of the times.

«Unfortunately, not all families have computers and internet access yet, but there are positive trends! We hope that soon every parent will be able to actively participate in their child's school life by using the e-diary services,"- say Diary.ru.
