More and more students are using cell phones in lectures

According to a report from McGraw-Hill, the number of students who use mobile devices in their studies increased significantly between 2013 and 2014. And already peaked last year at 81%.

Education Week's Digital Education reports that this increase is because students have already started using their smartphones. In 2014, more than half of students reported using their phones to study, up 15 percent from last year. Researchers say this should be a boost for technology in education.

The significant increase in the proportion of students using mobile devices to study is not surprising, especially given the requirements of some colleges and universities. Most institutions now require students to have laptops in class. And as technology is moving toward lighter devices, the requirement will soon extend beyond laptops to tablets and even smartphones.
